Ophelia

In my opinion Ophelia was one wacked out woman as the play goes on. She was so wrapped up in love she didnt know what to believe. I think Shakespear intended for Ophelia to be a push over that listened and did what anyone told  her to do. I think the reason for her madness was simply love. She loved Hamlet so much and when he told her that he never loved her it broke her heart. She was drivin with anger and didnt know what to do with herself. I dont feel sorry for Ophelia because she was a spy and a snitch and got what she deserved. How could you snitch  on your loved one who your suppose to be there for through thick and thin. I dont think she drowned herself in all her madness she wasnt careful and fell and killed herself. I think Gertrude watched her dimise and did nothing. THERE YOU GO MS. MERGOTTT =]

Invisble Children

This documentary talked about the african children in Uganda. They were in danger every second. A group of high school graduates went to Uganda for vacation and saw what was going on. They came back and went to college but one of them dropped out and decided to make a documentary on the kids from Uganda. The kids had to be causious of their surroundings every day because of the lra which takes them and turns them to soldiers. He documented them and later on friends came there to help. Later on they came to America to tell people about it. The president passed the law to help the people of Uganda from being terrorized from the L.R.A. I already knew about this because I knew about  the book A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier. There are plenty of movies and documentaries that talk about the rebels and how they terrorize the people in south africa. This is a serious thing especially if yourvan african american.

Hamlet

My introduction to Hamlet started with the Mel Gibson film.  In this version the time period was the 13th century. The costumes and language was representative of the time period. In the other two versions. It was hard to understand what they were saying to each other. Hamlet was a humorous character. He was very sarcastic compared to the Hamlets portrayed by Branagh and Hawke. When the ghost first appeared to him he was more humble and willing to listen to his father.

He was very angry and wanted revenge when his father told him about his horrible death. In the second version Hamlet was played by Brian Blessed. He was more arrogant and cocky than the other Hamlets. Hamlet was a rebel in this version of the movie. The characters that were portrayed from the book were played over the top. It was easy to identify the characters. The ghost actually looked like a ghost.

I feel the director went overboard with the special effects. There was no need for  the effects he put in for the scene of Hamlet seeing the ghost. In this version the ghost was dressed in shiny armor showing that there would be a time for war or something terrible is about to happen. He spoke with anger and frustration, he wanted revenge. I do like how the director showed how gruesome his death was.

The third version Hamlet was played by Ethan Hawke. This actor played him much different than all of the other actors. He was sad about his fathers’ death and to see how his mother quickly fell for his uncle. The time period was much more modern. Even the ghost was in a business suit. The scenery was dark and gloomy like the first version which makes it more suspenseful. In my opinion the best version was the version Mel Gibson played Hamlet. The first part of the movie draws you in making you want to watch more.

I think Serling is saying that judging and not knowing and understanding something could cause chaos. Peopl e could be afraid of something and judge it before they actually understand it. Theres many examples throughout history that shows what judgement can do. For example in the 20th centurary white people were very predjudice against black people and still are. They judge by the color of their skin before they actually get to know the person. What he said pertains to what we learned because in the crucible many people were judge because of how they looked and acted and where they fitted in society. Beggers were easy targets for the towns people to accuse of being a witch because they saw them as an unsessary scum that  didnt have anything to do but witch craft.

I totatly agree what Murrow is saying. Our t.v. makes a mochery of what how t.v. once was. T.v. can be used for all sorts of things. We can learn about amercia today and how it use to be. It keeps us in tuned with the world and sometimes outside of it. I think there should be more programs for chirldren on t.v.

The chirldren of today are becoming brain dead from whats on t.v. today. Now a days t.v. is really just for entertainment and that only according to some people. You will barelly find a teenager much less a child that watches educational programs or the news. Alot of amercians have no clue about whats going on in america today which is very dissapointing. We are the new generation and we need to keep the generations going and in order to do that we should in our country  we should be always updated on the world.

I believe Murrow would be displeased with the t.v. today. He would think of it as junk. He would say is a waste of time now. He would be dissapointed on how t.v. made chilrdren so careless about things. I think he would probably be ashamed of his country and how its corrrupting itself.

I think the internet today is just a box of wires. Barely anyone i know could be truthful and say i use the computer for other things than entertainment. Yeah you can do work on there but the internet can make a kid so lazy , now they actcuallly have websites where they can do your homework for you.
